Release notes
ClearFrame Updates — Release news and version history
Every ClearFrame release, what changed in it, and how updates reach an installed app.
Last updated
Release notes for every ClearFrame build, newest first. Each entry records what
changed and why, including the limits and the cases that still behave differently.
The desktop app reads the same information through
/api/updates/latest to offer an in-app update.
The newest build is 1.16.42 — Crash relief: the engine runs with an explicit bounded heap and recycles its runtime before that ceiling while idle. Task names no longer read [object Object] when a display name arrives as an object. Cloud-task discovery no longer invents a session for a malformed projection. Promotion and status tooling report what they actually did.
- Every version is listed below with a permanent link, which is the release history. The RSS feed carries the engineering notes instead.
- Download the latest build, with size and SHA-256 for every artifact.
- Read the documentation for how current behaviour works.
| Version | What changed |
|---|---|
| 1.16.42 | Crash relief: the engine runs with an explicit bounded heap and recycles its runtime before that ceiling while idle. Task names no longer read [object Object] when a display name arrives as an object. Cloud-task discovery no longer… |
| 1.16.41 | Finished cloud tasks no longer show their old question as an actionable box; preview data files are served with the right type; killed self-host runs report unknown usage and occupied-folder waits are bounded in wall clock. |
| 1.16.40 | Cloud tasks now show one consistent status across the task header, All work and the sidebar. The promotion gates' deadline-stop evidence and installed validation were hardened. |
| 1.16.38 | 1.16.38 improves the desktop design and task access. Stacky opens the current conversation with keyboard support, dragging, docking and reduced-motion behaviour preserved. Retry messages better explain when another task is still running. |
| 1.16.36 | ClearFrame 1.16.36 - Quitting or closing the window while a draft could not be saved now keeps the window open until you choose: Keep open, Try saving again, or Continue without saving. A failed save can no longer be treated as… |
| 1.16.35 | ClearFrame 1.16.35 sets the interface type from the design system's own tokens. - The type scale is generated from the same master tokens the rest of the design system uses, so the sizes the app draws are the sizes the tokens declare… |
| 1.16.34 | ClearFrame 1.16.34 lets you write your project's instructions from Settings. - Settings → Memory can now create and open this project's instruction file, instead of only reporting which files the runtime loads, so a project can carry… |
| 1.16.33 | ClearFrame 1.16.33 sets the interface in Inter and finds your servers again. - Type is set in Inter, on one generated scale shared by the app, the website and the packaged assets, with tighter corner radii. - A development server you… |
| 1.16.32 | ClearFrame 1.16.32 fixes a connection problem that could stop the app from starting. - A connected tool whose name in Settings contains a space or a dot — "Inside Ads", "inference.sh" — no longer stops the engine from starting. The name… |
| 1.16.31 | ClearFrame 1.16.31 keeps you oriented and moves work along faster. - The task you are in stays visible in every layout, so you always know what you are looking at. - All work is the single way into the drawer; the separate Active pill… |
| 1.16.30 | ClearFrame 1.16.30 makes updating safer and keeps your settings and workspace intact. - Updates exchange the app atomically: an interruption can no longer leave ClearFrame missing from Applications, and a launch that fails rolls back to… |
| 1.16.29 | More reliable reconnect and sending in saved chats. Clearer messages and attachments after restoring a conversation. Smoother task controls and a cleaner preview workspace. |
| 1.16.28 | ClearFrame 1.16.28 improves sign-in and workspace recovery. - Plan and Build changes apply before the first message and preserve your draft. - Plan approval correctly continues into Build. - Connection status distinguishes your account… |
| 1.16.27 | Fix Plan and Build selection before a task and improve account and workspace recovery. |
| 1.16.26 | Fix account sign-in recovery, task startup and native model provider setup. |
| 1.16.18 | Windows installations that could not update themselves now can: the updater trusts the publisher list the signed installer writes, so an installed Windows build finds, verifies and installs the next release. Approving a tool with Allow… |
| 1.16.17 | Approving a tool with Allow once now immediately shows it running instead of still waiting for approval. Windows installs trust the signing publisher correctly so future updates can install. |
| 1.16.16 | History in Activity groups each turn into one readable entry with clear labels and an honest failed state. Ongoing status tells the truth about work that is still running. Activity tabs work from the keyboard (arrow keys, Home, End)… |
| 1.16.15 | History in Activity is grouped by turn with readable summaries, and raw details stay one click away. The Ongoing status no longer says Blocked while a command is running. Activity tabs support arrow, Home and End keys. Reminder bars… |
| 1.16.14 | Model choice, native app-instance counting, and an upgrade path that reports a completed install |
| 1.16.13 | Every supported model is now selectable with its real name and creator, grouped by credit use. Removed the unsolicited search-capability notice from the model picker. |
| 1.16.12 | Model choice, live parallel work, and clearer run limits across macOS, Windows, and Linux. |
| 1.16.5 | Landscape Studio preview and recent desktop improvements are available across macOS, Windows, and Linux. |
| 1.16.4 | Landscape Studio now opens as an interactive 3D preview, alongside the latest ClearFrame workflow and desktop improvements. |
| 1.16.3 | Quitting now waits for the runtime to stop, so closing the app no longer leaves an engine running behind it. When the connection to the runtime is interrupted, the log records what the runtime said before it died, bounded and redacted… |
| 1.16.2 | Improves recovery when work is interrupted: an integration that was cut off between writing its files and recording the result is now reconciled exactly once when the app restarts, instead of being replayed or lost, and work created… |
| 1.16.1 | Fixes a case where ClearFrame could lose track of a running preview server after a background process exited, which made the preview view report no server even though one was running. Improves how finished background work is reported… |
| 1.16.0 | ClearFrame 1.16.0 — Windows, Linux and macOS. |
| 1.15.9 | Choosing an access level in a task now takes effect. In a Self-Host task that had already run a shell command, picking Full access was refused while the task's persistent shell was open, and the access menu closed without saying so —… |
| 1.15.8 | Active mode is now the single way to keep a task working toward its goal. The separate Goal loop control is gone from the Self-Host panel: turn Active on and the task continues on its own, including after ClearFrame restarts, with… |
| 1.15.7 | Installing an update now keeps the build it replaced as a dependable rollback copy. ClearFrame's own cleanup could previously remove that copy moments after an update landed, leaving nothing to fall back to if the new build misbehaved… |
| 1.15.6 | Stacky, the task companion, has been redrawn and rebuilt. New upright layered art with refined materials stays crisp at its native size, expressions now follow the real state of the task you have open, and dragging it settles with… |
| 1.15.4 | Stacky task helper, live task progress and completion actions, quiet notifications, and improved integration setup with full-color service logos. |
| 1.15.3 | Clearer live task activity, consistent desktop controls, and reliability fixes for autonomous work. |
| 1.15.1 | Improves autonomous task recovery, approval handling, session history responsiveness, evaluation diagnostics, and process cleanup. Fixes app icon restoration and verifies update handover against the actual installed application. |
| 1.15.0 | Fixes repeated Resume failures, prevents competing autonomous coordinators in the same working folder, bounds stalled goal restoration, and shows the actual folder of resumed tasks. Context-limit errors now trigger compaction instead of… |
| 0.15.0 | Improved recovery from interrupted autonomous work, clearer failure messages, and committing reviewed changes from the app. Adds optional basic usage statistics with offline retry and a Settings opt-out; prompts, code and file paths are… |
| 0.14.9 | Includes the launch polish and gives slower Macs more time to unpack and stage updates, while retaining cancellation and signature validation. If an older app times out while updating, install the signed DMG from the download page. Your… |
| 0.14.8 | A smoother start and clearer work: smaller-window onboarding, reliable long responses, clean code copying, keyboard focus, visible retry feedback, stronger account isolation, and Build preview recovery. |
| 0.14.7 | Simpler email sign-in with code resending, clear recovery steps, and consistent ClearFrame branding. |
| 0.14.6 | Improved desktop packaging, server-side product policy, and a resizable preview with remembered sizing. |
| 0.14.5 | More reliable app updates with clear preparation stages, cancellation, retry, and recovery after restart. Includes chat management, expanded work details, and previews that pause when their chat is inactive. |
| 0.14.4 | Reliable updates with clear progress, cancellation and retry. Rename or remove chats from the sidebar. Full tool details stay expanded, and each chat has its own preview that pauses when you switch away. |

How updates reach you
The desktop app checks /api/updates/latest, which reports the newest
release and its artifacts. When a release is available the app offers it; you can
also install any build manually from the
download page.
Updates are only promoted after the build survives a startup check, a renderer health check and a fresh-activity check in a restored task. A build that fails those checks can be rolled back, which is why some versions appear here without ever reaching every install.
Stay current.
Install the newest build, or follow the feed to read release notes as they are published.
